Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has announced new promotional gorilla trekking permit rates for 2026, aimed to boosting domestic, regional, and African tourism.
The announcement was made in a public notice released on Monday, January 5, 2026. RDB said the new rates are part of Rwanda’s efforts to make tourism more accessible while supporting conservation and local communities.
Promotional Rates Valid Until December 2026
According to RDB, the promotional permit rates will be valid until 31 December 2026.
However, the board clarified that the discounted rates will not apply during the peak tourism season, which runs from June to October 2026. During this period, standard permit prices will apply due to high demand.

Gorilla Trekking Permit Prices for 2026
Under the revised pricing structure for Volcanoes National Park, the permit rates are as follows:
• Rwandans and East African Community (EAC) citizens: USD 200 per person
• African citizens and African residents: USD 500 per person
• International visitors (non-residents): Standard rates apply, Rates is 1500 USD per person
To qualify for the discounted rates, visitors must present:
• A national identity card
• A valid passport
• Or a residency permit (for African residents)
