EXCELLENT Based on 106 reviews Happiness081628153442025-02-27Verified Night fishing on Lake Kivu and Nkombo Island visit We went on 2 separate trips with Aimable from Visit Lake Kivu Boat Tours & Adventure and had a wonderful time. Everything was professional and very well done, and Aimable himself was very knowledgable and kind. We walked to the dockyard and got picked up for our boatrride to Nkombo Island. About 30 mins on calm water until we reached the island and saw how the locals on the island lived, we walked throughout the island which was an adventure. We took the local taxiboat to mainland since we wanted to experience that as well, and then "our" boat back. In the afternoon we went on a night fishing trip, which was absolutely fascinating, to see how the locals fish, and how they handle the net and the 3 boats that are attaced. We had a really good experience, 5 out of 5 and would absolutely recommend this company when going! Saara J2025-01-19Verified Aimable the organizer is amazing lake kivu experience, I enjoyed the fishermen, swimming cows and hiking to island We booked our lake kivu boat ride and fishermen experience with Aimable, he is very nice organiser and expert of lake kivu he is loaded with knowledge and kindness, he went above to accommodate our wishes learned a lots about local fishermen and lake kivu birds, plants, fishes and stories behind Highly recommended! Uncle P2025-01-14Verified Afternoon at Kivu Lake Amazing afternoon spent at Lake Kivu and its wonderful islands with experts of the region and its nature. I learned a lot about the environment here mrc2822024-12-10Verified spend 2-4h boating, up to you stayed at kibuye and went out for a boat ride to Napolean island, where i hiked to the summit for a 360deg view of the lake. the hike takes 30-45 min round trip. it is steep, but not overly difficult. along the way, you will also see the fruit bats. there is another island called "monkey island" where vervet monkeys are found if lucky. but honestly, this is nothing burger . you and i will have better sightings of vervet monkeys at any national parks out therethere is a third island called "swimming cows island". the lore is cows are brought from mainland to the island, and over time, they swim between islands to graze on fresh grass. it is more expensive if you visit this island because apparently the villagers there want a cut of the revenue for showing you the swimming cows and other related activites (milking the cow etc). i abstain from this because while i would like to observe the cows swimming naturally, what i dont condone is villagers pushing the cows into water and forcing them to swim just for tourist viewing pleasure. i paid 30000 rwf (per boat, which can fit up to 8 people) for a 2.5h private boat ride. this is for a guide + a boatman + boat fuel. most of the boats depart from Museum of Environment in Kibuye town so just go down there and negotiate. but you can also get them to come pick you up from the lake shore near to where you live if you contact them by whatsapp prior Madan Gopal M2024-10-04Verified Enchanting.
