From 5 pm, join us to watch local fishermen head out onto the calm lake. Hear them sing loudly to motivate themselves, joke, and tease each other, a lively tradition full of spirit. If the weather is clear, enjoy a beautiful sunset as the lake slowly turns peaceful & Sky paints the Lake with orange or gold

What You Will Do

•Meet your local guide at the lake around 5 pm

•Board your boat and sail toward the fishermen’s dock

•when we reach the fishermen’s dock, we follow them as they paddle to the fishing area

•Listen to their songs and enjoy the peaceful evening

•Watch them set up lamps and nets to catch sambaza (small fish)

NB; This tour start at 5PM up 8h30. /9PM, thia tour can be made in different way to lower the coast.

We had an amazing boat tour on Lake Kivu with Visit Lake Kivu Tour. Even though we booked at the last minute, the manager was incredibly kind and accommodating. He quickly arranged everything for us and even found a French-speaking guide, which made the experience even better.

Our guide was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and never in a rush. He took the time to explain everything and made sure we fully enjoyed every stop. We visited Nyenyeri Island to see the monkeys, cruised around Amahoro Island, discovered the plantations on another island, hiked to the top of Napoleon Island to see the famous fruit bats, and even watched the swimming cows. We also had plenty of time to swim in the beautiful waters of Lake Kivu.
