The Trekking Adventure

They are playful monkeys with Shining golden colors

Golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park is gentle compared to gorilla trekking. The monkeys live at lower altitudes, which means the hike is shorter and easier โ€“ perfect for families, beginners, or anyone who wants a lighter adventure without missing out on a rich wildlife encounter.

Your journey starts early in the morning at Kinigi Park Headquarters, where visitors gather for registration and a short briefing. Treks usually begin at 7:00 am, so it is best to arrive a little earlier. After meeting your guide and group, you set off into the bamboo forest, where the real adventure begins.

How Long Does It Take?

The trek usually lasts 2 to 4 hours in total, depending on the movement of the monkeys. Since they live at lower altitudes, the hike is not very demanding, and you can enjoy the experience at a relaxed pace.

Once the group reaches the monkeys, you will spend one full hour observing and photographing them.
