They leave at sunset on Lake Kivu, paddling without lights and singing lively songs that tease, joke, and praise loved ones. Each team uses three canoes — Ishaba for nets, Kati for lanterns, and Ijyiza for balance, with three fishermen in each canoe pulling the big nets together to catch fish.
